We interrupt this soap opera that is the Damon Evans saga to actually bring some good news. Something that will bring a smile to Dawg faithful everywhere. Yes Mark Fox is in the process of building a basketball program.

The recruits that he is going after aren’t just obscure players from anywhere. These are legit names like reigning Georgia Mr Basketball Marcus Thornton who will will lace them up for Fox this season.

Today the AJC’s Michael Carver reports that Fox has caught another of the state’s top players’ eyes. That player is Greater Atlanta Christian’s Malcolm Brogdon.  Carvell reports that Brogdon will be one of the top contenders for this year’s Mr Basketball designation.

The 6 foot 5 inch Shooting Guard led GAC to a state championship while averaging twenty points a game as a junior. Brogdon had this to say about Mark Fox:

"“I really like Georgia, and I’m really considering them,” he said. “I like Coach[Mark] Fox. I respect him, and feel like I can learn from him. I think Georgia is a program on the rise. I feel like I can fit into their system and play well. I feel like Georgia is a place I can go and make an immediate impact.”"

That is pretty high praise from one of the state’s top prospects. And yes Georgia fans he is talking about your Basketball team. Fox is poised to take this program where it never has been. Not long ago Georgia couldn’t even sniff one of the states top prospects. That my friends is changing.
