Breaking News: NCAA to make Inquiry at Georgia

facebooktwitterreddit

The University of Georgia confirmed today that it had received a call from the NCAA “requesting permission to send investigators onto campus to conduct an inquiry”.  Associate Athletic Director Claude Felton confirmed the call to the AJC but didn’t comment saying that the NCAA had asked that no UGA Officials, Coaches, or Student Athletes comment on the matter until the inquiry was made.

The NCAA is already investigating North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, and Alabama for improper contact between players and agents.

At this point we can’t really speculate what this might be about. There was a possible violation committed at UGA’s Dawg Night workout for High School athletes. That offense however seemed minor and would be a secondary violation and I wouldn’t think it would call for a full blow inquiry.

We will have more details as they become available

P.S. Don’t you just love how quick this became a headline at the AJC?
