CUBAN TALKS AND BCS WALKS!!

Well apparently Mark Cuban has run out of challenges to throw his money at.  This is the man that when he sets his mind to doing something, it flat out gets done because he has all the money in the world to make it happen.  Let’s face it, he pretty much was the driving force in pushing HD television in the United States (first 24 hr HD channel on Satellite).  He of course is the bombastic owner of the Dallas Mavericks, who has on more than one occasion been banned from attending games his own team is playing because of, let’s say, his exuberant enthusiasm he occasionally displays.  So, while he is trying to buy the Chicago Cubs with his left hand,  he is now going after the BCS with his right!

Cuban has said he is now in the investigatory phase of determining the feasibility of using his money to force a National Playoff System for College Football to determine the Champion versus the current BCS system, which of course stands for “Bullshit Championship System.”  A BCS spokesman pretty much laughed off the suggestion and said too many schools and school Presidents are satisfied with the current method of determining the national champion.

Cuban is mincing no words in telling the BCS exactly what he plans on doing.  He will go to each major NCAA school to begin with and offer them whatever amount of money it takes in exchange for their agreement to play in his new play-off system should their team make it that far, in lieu of the BCS.  He also suggests that if the School Presidents try to thwart his attempts, that he will do what is necessary for the school donors to boycott and dry up their contributions until the school relinquishes, and that sooner or later they will give in and the BCS will fold.  He more or less is telling the BCS “My money can outlast your bullheadedness.”

 For all of us fans who have been clamoring and begging for a playoff system, Cuban is our knight in shining armor.   Is Cuban a nut case?  Probably so.  Will he get this thing done with his money if he truly sets his mind to it?  PROBABLY SO!
