CROWELL’S MOM NOT HAPPY WITH RICHT’S ALLEDGED BRIBE!

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out Richt’s ploy to offer a scholarship last week to Isaiah Crowell’s BFF and fellow teammate, Quintavious “Cootie” Harrow, a 5’ 11” 190 lb linebacker/safety, when no one else has considered offering the young man.  Not to say Harrow is not talented, and that if he accepts he would not make a positive impact on the team, because he certainly may.  However, the offer came out of nowhere to a young man not on the radar, and his relationship with Crowell is just too much of a coincidence.  The press has been speculating since the offer was made last week as to whether this might blow up in CMR’s face, whereby Harrow commits and Crowell doesn’t.

Apparently, Crowell’s mother did not take kindly to the alleged “bribe” either.  In anticipation of Crowell, Harrow and their families making an official visit to Athens this weekend, Momma Crowell said to Chip Towers of AJC.Com, “Well, for Quintavious it’s wonderful, but I don’t want them to do it to get Isaiah there. I’m not selling my son’s soul to the devil. This is his decision. If they want to give Quintavious a scholarship, that’s fine. But that can’t have anything to do with Isaiah. He has too much pressure on him as it is and I’m going to lay that on the line with them. We’ll discuss that while we’re up there.” (source: AJC.Com)

If this was indeed a chess move by CMR to help him land Crowell, you can’t fault the man for pulling out all the stops to get the talented running back.  However, the fact remains that it appears on the surface to be a move that is very transparent and desperate.

Regarding the Crowells’ and Harrows’ visit this past weekend at the University of Elephants in Tuscaloosa, Isaiah’s mom said, “It was wonderful they kept us busy, but we had fun. They had everything planned out and stuck by it all weekend. My husband and I had a wonderful time and Isaiah did, too.”  In her interview with Chip Towers, she stated that they left ‘Bama very impressed with coach Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide.  (source: AJC.Com)

On another note, although Jay Rome and his buddy, Malcolm Mitchell, who both have offers from the Dawgs, will still announce their decision this Thursday, Mitchell has changed his mind about making a joint announcement with Rome on ESPNU at 7PM.  Instead, he will do so earlier at a local eatery in Valdosta, with local media.  He says that nothing should be read into this change of decision, regarding to which school each will commit, but is a result of his lack of excitement of being on television.  What I would take from this is the exact opposite.  My money says the Dawgs will get one but not both.  As far as which one is anybody’s guess at this point.
