DAWGS GET DOUBLE HITTER! ROME AND MITCHELL COMMIT TO GEORGIA!

facebooktwitterreddit

At about 5:50 PM EST, WR Jay Rome from Valdosta High announced his commitment to the Dawgs on ESPNU.  At approximately 7:50 PM EST, CB/WR Malcolm Mitchell, Rome’s teammate and buddy announced at the Hibachi Grill in Valdosta, that he too will go with the Red and Black.

Rome did his ESPNU announcement in Tallahassee, Florida and then returned to Valdosta to be with Malcolm for his announcement.  Mitchell‘s mom walked into the restaurant wearing a “Gator” hat, obviously to throw everyone off because, as between the two players, they had allegedly narrowed their choices between Georgia and Alabama.  However, Mitchell himself was wearing red and black.  He waited to make his announcement after Rome showed up.  (source:  ESPNU.Com)

This is genuine coup for the Dawgs, and the “dream team” is back on track! After losing 4-star defensive end Xzavier Dickson, of Griffin, Georgia, and 4-star prospect Quan Bray, of Lagrange, Georgia, to Alabama a few weeks ago, which the “dream team” took as a ‘low blow,’ they just came back at the tide with the equivalent of a ‘right uppercut.’

Wouldn’t it be nice if this ‘daily double’ we just got maybe got Isaiah Crowell just a little bit excited about playing for his home state with a bunch of great new recruits?  Yes, that would be super!  In fact, although Alabama’s recruiting class is shaping up so far to be loaded with talent, the capture of Crowell for the Dawgs would be the equivalent of a ‘TKO’ in regard to the UGA vs ALA race for recruits!
