CROWELL SNUBS AUBURN – CANCELS OFFICIAL VISIT! LET THE BIG DAWG SMILE!

Today Isaiah Crowell cancelled his official visit to Auburn sceduled for this weekend.  His head coach at Carver High School, Columbus, Georgia, Dell McGee said “Isaiah was thankful that Auburn recruited him, and they did a wonderful job, but he didn’t want to waste Auburn’s time and pin their hopes on him coming there. He’s down to Alabama and Georgia now, and he’s going to take the weekend off to further evaluate both situations and get some peace about his decision.” (source: ledger-enqurier.com)

This is about as wonderful as the news can be without Crowell officially announcing his commitment to the Dawgs.  Prior to this announcement, I was seriously worried about the ‘War Chickens’ snatching this guy.  There were a few magnets there, with the National Championship and the school only being 45 minutes from home.  In fact, when I first learned a few weeks ago of his adding Auburn to the list, I got a pain in the pit of my stomach.

Since Alabama already has a wrecking crew of backs, I just cannot see Crowell going there.  Saban would surely stock pile him and put a redshirt on him.  At Georgia, he goes on the field immediately.  From an entirely objective standpoint, it would be stupidity for Isaiah to go to the Tide.  Why look at a bunch of running backs’ rear ends, trying to fight your way up the food chain, when you can get instant stardom elsewhere?     Besides, have you ever tried to get to Tuscaloosa from Columbus, Georgia?  You can’t get there from here.  It’s kind of like trying to make it to a Georgia vs Arkansas game in Little Rock.  You just can’t get there. That’s why I have never been to a game there.  It’s like having to go to China to get to Ft. Worth. In reference to his parents going to see him play, that issue will factor into the decision as well.  From here to Athens is a breeze and for the most part all four lane.

GOOD MOVE, ISAIAH, FOR CANCELLING THAT TRIP THIS WEEKEND.  NOW YOU DON’T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT GETTING A VISA, PASSPORT, AND SHOTS.  YOU WOULD HAVE NEEDED ALL THAT TO VISIT THAT FOREIGN COUNTRY!
