SPOT LIGHT ON THE DREAM TEAM! PART IV OF THE EARLY COMMITS: DEVIN BOWMAN

facebooktwitterreddit

6’ 175 lbs. Corner Back Devin Bowman, who hails from Ridgeland High School, Rossville, Georgia, announced his commitment to the Dawgs on Saturday, April 17, 2010. He was Georgia’s number 6 commitment of the 2011 ‘Dream Team’ class. Devin picked UGA over Georgia Tech, Clemson, Notre Dame, and Oklahoma State, among others.

Devin is a two-way stand out, who will either play corner back or wide receiver at Georgia. He comes from a football family. Both of his older brothers play football. His oldest brother, Adarius Bowman, played wide receiver at Oklahoma State, and recently finished his second year in the CFL.  Another Bowman brother, Michael Bowman, was redshirted at wide receiver this past season at the University of Alabama. Georgia screwed up on Michael. He was considered to be the state’s No. 1 prospect at wide receiver and went public with his desire to sign with Georgia, but the Dawgs did not respond because they were pursuing ‘other’ candidates for that position. Meanwhile, Nick Saban swooped in and got him. I guess CMR learned his lesson and decided he wanted at least one of the Bowman brothers to come to UGA.

Ridgeland coach Mark Mariakis said, regarding Devin’s last trip to Athens, “It was one of those trips where the whole family wanted to get peace about the (decision), and make sure it was the right place to stay for the next 4-5 years. Devin called me after they talked to (Richt) to say ‘I’m a Bulldog.” (source: ajc.com)

Welcome to Athens, Devin. It is my hope that you not only play for the Dawgs, on the field, in 2011, but ‘How ‘Bout playing against your brother, playing for the Crimson Tide, in the SEC play-off game in Atlanta? Yeh, that would work nicely!
