Georgia beats Georgia Tech, winning streak at 10

Georgia Bulldogs beat Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 31-17. Georgia who won the East division last weekend wanted to end the regular season on a high note. Georgia is now 10-2,7-1 in conference play. Georgia Tech who started the season really exploding couldn’t get much rhythm offensively today. Georgia Tech was hoping to have a 10 win season. Georgia Tech will not have a 10 win season this year. Georgia Tech is 8-4, 5-3 in conference play.

Georgia got on the board first in the 1st quarter. Michael Bennett scored a 15 yard touchdown pass from Aaron Murray to make it 7-0. In the 2nd quarter, Georgia Tech got a 22 yard field goal by Justin Moore to cut Georgia’s lead 7-3. Later in the quarter, the Bulldogs another touchdown from Aaron Murray to Chris Conley. It was a 14 yard touchdown pass from Murray, Georgia now leads it 14-3. On Georgia Tech’s next drive, Tevin Washington drove the Yellow Jackets down field. David Sims scored a 5 yard touchdown run to make it 14-10. Late in the 2nd quarter, Blair Walsh kicked a 41 yard field goal to increase Georgia’s lead to 17-10.

In the 3rd quarter, Georgia got the offense going quickly after a 60 yard kick off return by Brandon Boykin. Georgia went to work and got another touchdown. Aaron Murray found Tavarres King for a 3 yard touchdown pass to make it 24-10. Then later in the quarter, Georgia got another touchdown. Aron White scored a 3 yard touchdown reception to make it 31-10. Georgia scored enough points to win their 10 consecutive game and also to beat Georgia Tech 3 straight years.

In the 4th quarter, the Yellow Jackets got a touchdown. Orwin Smith ran for 16 yards for a touchdown. Georgia now leads 31-17. Georgia Tech tried to score another touchdown in the final minutes of the game but got stopped by Georgia’s defense. Georgia did win without having Isaiah Crowell in the game and also without DeAngelo Tyson. DeAngelo Tyson was injured early in the game and did not return. Aaron Murray had a great day, he was 19-29, 252 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Georgia will be facing No.1 LSU in the SEC Championship game next Saturday at the Georgia Dome. Last time Georgia played in the SEC Championship was in 2005 against LSU. Georgia Tech will wait their fate in which bowl they will be playing in.  IF Georgia BEATS LSU next week, then Georgia will be in the BCS Bowl game.
