Georgia senior guard Chris Burnette has been named to the 2013 Outland Trophy Watch List, according to an announcement Thursday by the Football Writers Association of American (FWAA).

The Outland Trophy, now in its 68th season, is awarded to the best interior lineman in college football. The list will be trimmed to six or seven semifinalists on November 20. Five days later, three Outland Trophy finalists will be named by the FWAA.

The winner of the Outland Trophy will be announced on ESPN on The Home Depot College Football Awards on December 12th from Disney’s Boardwalk in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

Burnette, a native of LaGrange, started 12 games last season for the 12-2 Bulldogs. He was voted to the All-SEC Coaches Second Team after helping Georgia have one of the country’s most potent offenses. The Bulldogs set school records with total points (529) and average points a game (37.8) while allowing quarterback Aaron Murray to register more than 3,000 yards passing in each of the last three years.

Burnette earned his degree in Finance last year and married Arielle Haynes in May 2013.

Bill Stanfill is the only Bulldog to win the Outland Trophy after earning the award in 1968.
