The University of Georgia has announced the 2013 – 2014 Men’s Basketball schedule. The season will begin in the Stegman Coliseum on November 4 with an exhibition against UNC-Pembroke  Records will be kept beginning on November 8 with a visit from Wofford. A visit by Georgia Tech on November 15 highlights the non-conference schedule,  which will include this season’s “School Day” game for local students against Gardner-Webb.

Road games against Colorado and George Washington will conclude the non-conference competition. Southeastern Conference competition begins at Missouri on January 8. The Tigers, NCAA Tournament participants last season, will make their first-ever trip to Athens as an SEC team when they visit Stegeman Coliseum on Feb. 25.

Competing in the Charleston Classic tournament in November, the Bulldogs will face 2-time Southern Conference champion Davidson in the first round on Nov. 21. The visit to George Washington in the nation’s capital on Jan. 3 will complete a home-and-home series. The Bulldogs will initiate another series with Pac-12 foe Colorado, an NCAA Tournament team from 2013, with a Dec. 28 contest in Boulder.

Georgia begins pre-season practice on Friday, Sept. 27 and the team will have 30 practice days over six weeks before the season opener. Two weeks later on Oct. 11, the Bulldogs will introduce themselves in the second annual “Basketbash” event at Stegeman Coliseum. More details on the 2013 edition of Basketbash will follow as the event draws nearer.

“I’m very excited about the schedule we have put together,” Fox said. “I think we will have the Strength of Schedule we need from the non-league portion. We’re looking forward to playing in the Charleston Classic against a terrific program in Davidson in the first round. And we wanted to start a ‘high-major’ series this season and we filled that need with Colorado.”

Georgia’s league schedule will not include home games with Kentucky, Florida or Tennessee. Kentucky has played in Athens every year since 1988, Florida since 1962 and Tennessee since 1964.  The Bulldogs will also not play at Vanderbilt for the first time since 1964.

“The SEC will continue to be very competitive and very balanced this season,” Fox said. “Certainly, we’re disappointed that three of our traditional rivals will not be coming to Athens this season. I think everyone’s a little frustrated with the (SEC schedule) rotation, but at the same time we recognize that it comes with the expansion of our league.”

Season tickets, which include a reserved seat to all 16 regular-season home games, are $225 and on sale now. Season tickets for UGA faculty and staff are also on sale and are $112.50.
