Georgia Football: Five Bulldogs Named To AP All-SEC Team


Five Georgia football players were voted to the 2013 Associated Press All-Southeastern Conference Team, it was announced on Monday. Senior tight end Arthur Lynch, sophomore placekicker Marshall Morgan and junior linebacker Ramik Wilson were named to the first team, while senior quarterback Aaron Murray and sophomore tailback Todd Gurley were second team selections.

Lynch has been a key component of the SEC’s No. 2-ranked passing offense this season. The Dartmouth, Massachusetts, native has 390 receiving yards on 24 receptions and is tied for the team lead with five touchdown catches this season.

Morgan leads all sec kickers in field goals made (18-for-20) and points per game (10.0). The Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, native connected on a 56-yard field goal against Tennessee, which is the longest kick made in the league this season. Morgan was the SEC’s only kicker to be named a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award.

Wilson leads the SEC with 128 total tackles, including an SEC-best 72 solo stops. A native of Tampa, Florida, Wilson has led the Bulldogs in tackles in nine games this season, including 18 against Auburn. He is tied for eighth in the SEC with 11.0 tackles for loss.

Murray threw for 3,075 yards and 26 touchdowns and rushed for seven more scores this season and became the first quarterback in SEC history to throw for 3,000-plus yards in four consecutive seasons. The Tampa native set four SEC career records in his final season as a Bulldog, including touchdown passes, total offense, passing yards and completions. He is also the SEC’s leading player in TD responsibility (137), and his 13,166 passing yards are No. 2 nationally among active FBS quarterbacks.

Gurley has rushed for 903 yards in nine games this season and is tied for second in the league in scoring. A native of Tarboro, North Carolina, Gurley rushed for 100 or more yards four times, including the regular season finale when he rushed for 122 yards and scored four touchdowns in the win over Georgia Tech.

The Bulldogs (8-4) will face Nebraska (8-4) in the TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl Jan. 1 in Jacksonville, Florida.
