UGA’s Kolton Houston punks fans, tweets ‘hanging the cleats up’

In a shocking announcement, Georgia Bulldogs offensive lineman Kolton Houston tweeted out that he is putting his football career on hold to focus on becoming a Navy SEAL.

OK, it’s not really an announcement, it’s more of an inside joke.

Remain calm. Nothing to see here. Return to your homes.

The Navy SEALs are in Athens, Ga. training with the Bulldogs, and Houston was so taken with the group that he decided to join their ranks….well, in his own mind.

The 6’5, 280-pound tackle is projected to be one of Georgia’s starters this year, after seeing his first real action in nearly three years last season. The coaches are all probably glad that this is a big put-on.

The reaction has been varied, but mostly supportive of Houston, not because his supposedly leaving so close to the season, but for the reason said he was leaving. It’s hard to fault a man who wants to serve his country. While fans showed shock and confusion, Houston’s teammates made sure the joke wasn’t on them.

Someone should let Kolton know that April Fools was over two months ago.
