Peyton Manning Worship

Good lord we know you “produced” Peyton Manning. Stop reminding everyone every 5 minutes. It’s been what, 17 years since he graduated? The fact that this guy was the last actual decent quarterback you had is embarrassing. Tennessee has long since struggled in the QB department since Peyton left, and for some reason EVERY year some toothless fan with a shirt so small it does not cover his beer belly tries to tell me this next up-and-coming kid is the next Peyton Manning.

We’ve heard about Clausen (bust) and Ainge (bust), and on and on and on. It’s always a comparison to Peyton.

Peyton was good. He led Tennessee to a lot of wins and racked up a lot of individual stats (hmm..just like in the NFL), but fell short when it was all on the line.

You know who you should talk about Vol fans? Tee Martin. He helped win you a national championship…Peyton choked (just like he’s still choking now in big NFL games). Now I am not here to say Peyton isn’t one of the best quarterbacks to have ever played the game. No doubt in my mind he is, and my fantasy NFL team won last year because of him, but it’s time to stop trying to compare any and every 18-year-old recruit you get to him.
