Georgia Bulldog Volleyball 2014 Schedule released
The recently released University of Georgia Bulldog 2014 volleyball schedule features two home tournaments, 18 Southeastern Conference matches, eight television appearances and two matches in Stegeman Coliseum.

The Bulldogs are following a 2013 campaign in which they finished 22-10 overall, and 11-7 in SEC play. Their 22 overall victories were most since 1994, and their 11 SEC victories were most since 1995. Georgia also advanced to the first round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2004.
“Our 2014 lineup will again hold exciting matchups in every weekend,” Head Volleyball Coach Lizzy Stemke told Georgiadogs.com , “We hope to continue to build on the momentum of last year’s season and we know that with every upcoming season the SEC gets stronger and more exciting than ever before. Our 2014 squad is excited and ready for the journey.”
Georgia opens the 2014 campaign Friday, Aug. 29 at 7 p.m., when it plays Fordham as part of a two-day tournament at the University of San Francisco. The Bulldogs will face Southern Methodist and San Francisco Saturday, Aug. 30, at 1:30 p.m., and 10 p.m., respectively. This will be the first time the Bulldogs have faced each of these three opponents.
Following the West Coast trip, Georgia returns home for back-to-back tournaments at the Ramsey Center. The first home matchup will be against UT Chattanooga Friday, Sept. 5 at 7 p.m. as part of the annual Bulldog Invitational. Georgia will round out the invitational against Belmont and the College of Charleston on Saturday, Sept. 6 at 1 p.m., and 7 p.m.
The next weekend, Georgia will play host for the Benson Hospitality Invitational. The Bulldogs will open the tournament against UNC Asheville Friday, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m., before facing Harvard and NC State on Saturday, Sept. 13 at 1 p.m., and 7 p.m.
The Bulldogs will travel to Atlanta to participate in a two-day tournament at arch rival Georgia Tech before opening SEC play. In Atlanta, Georgia will face the Yellow Jackets on Friday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m., then Southern Mississippi and Alabama A&M on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 10 a.m., and 4:30 p.m. Georgia faced off against Southern Mississippi in the Nebraska Tournament at the beginning of the 2013 season, and defeated the Golden Eagles 3-0.
Georgia will open SEC play against Alabama in Athens in the Stegeman Coliseum on Wednesday Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. The Bulldogs fell to the Crimson Tide in four sets in their only matchup in 2013. Scheduled for SEC Network broadcast, the match is the first of eight television appearances for the Bulldogs and the first of seven that will air on the new SEC Network.
“The opportunity that the new network will bring to our sport and to the SEC is thrilling in itself,” Stemke said. “The matches that have been selected will provide great competitive viewing for the fans watching at home, as well as in our arena. We have had some great events in Stegeman and the opportunity to offer both Ramsey and the Coliseum to our fans is very special.”
After two consecutive byes, Georgia will travel to Auburn, Alabama for a midweek matchup against the Tigers on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 9 p.m. The Bulldogs defeated Auburn 3-1 in their only meeting of 2013.
Next, the Bulldogs will host Missouri for their first Sunday match of the season at 4 p.m. on Oct. 5. Missouri hosted Georgia in Columbia for their only meeting of the 2013 campaign, and defeated the Bulldogs in four sets.
The Bulldogs will spend their first weekend of SEC play away from home as they take on Florida in Gainesville on Friday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m., and then travel to Fayetteville to face Arkansas on Sunday at 2:30 p.m., Oct. 12.
Georgia returns to Athens to take on Kentucky on Friday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m., and Tennessee on Sunday, Oct. 19 at noon. The Bulldogs won both matchups against the Volunteers in 2013 by a combined six sets to one.
The Bulldogs will play three matches in six days as they travel to Texas A&M on Friday, Oct. 24 at 7:30 p.m., and then to LSU on Sunday, Oct. 26 for a 2 p.m. match. Georgia will then host Florida at Stegeman Coliseum on Wednesday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. before having a bye on Friday Oct. 31.
Georgia finishes the 2014 season with nine consecutive matches during the month of November, starting Sunday, Nov. 2 against Auburn in Athens at 1:30 p.m.
The Bulldogs will have a split weekend after the Auburn match, as they will travel to Kentucky on Friday, Nov. 7 for a 7 p.m. match, before returning to Athens for a 2 p.m. match against Arkansas on Sunday, Nov. 9.

Georgia will spend the next weekend on the road as it travels to Missouri on Friday, Nov. 14 for a 7:30 p.m. eastern match, then to Alabama on Sunday, Nov. 16 for a 2 p.m. match.
Georgia returns home for its last two SEC matches in Athens, first hosting Mississippi State on Friday, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m. This will be Georgia’s first meeting with Mississippi State after facing the SEC West Bulldogs twice in 2013, winning each meeting. Georgia will then face South Carolina on Sunday, Nov. 23 at 1:30 p.m. to round out the home stand.
Georgia travels to Oxford for its final SEC meet against Ole Miss on Wednesday, Nov. 26 at 8 p.m. Georgia defeated Ole Miss in each of their two meetings with the Rebels in 2013, 3-2.
The Bulldogs will host Kennesaw State on Friday, November 28 at 5 p.m. to complete the regular season. This is the second consecutive year that the Bulldogs have hosted the Owls to end the season. Georgia defeated Kennesaw State in straight sets in 2013.
The NCAA Tournament’s first and second round matches are Dec. 4-7, while Regional Semifinals and Finals will take place from Dec. 11-14 at sites to be determined. The NCAA Semi Finals and Finals are on Dec. 18 and Dec. 20, respectively, at sites to be determined.
