The hard work of the Georgia recruiting staff continues to pay off for the 2015 class, as a 3-star JUCO transfer, running back Chris Carson, has given his verbal commitment to Georgia, according to a report from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Yes, I committed,” Carson told the AJC. “Georgia felt like a family. And I love the competition.”

Carson attended Parkview High School in the Atlanta area, and has been attending Kansas Junior College. He’s currently the no. 66 overall JUCO prospect this year according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

This gives Georgia their first running back commit for 2015, something Mark Richt and his staff have been working on with little success. It would appear having Sony Michel and Nick Chubb both coming in this season is making many of the elite high school backs in the nation wary of joining a crowded Bulldogs backfield.

At 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds, Carson is a much bigger and more physical back than many in Georgia’s backfield right now. He’s a bruiser according to scouts, and will provide both some depth and some short yardage bang when the Dawgs need it.

With Todd Gurley most likely leaving for the NFL after this season, and possibly Keith Marshall as well, the addition of Carson gives Georgia a nice boost to the depth chart for 2015.

Georgia’s 2015 recruiting class now stands at 17 commits.
