Georgia Baseball SEC schedule set, Missouri first conference foe

Everyone has their countdowns set for football, but in the middle of all of the football madness, the SEC released the 2014 conference baseball schedule earlier this week, and the Georgia baseball team has a newly renovated stadium to welcome opponents.

The newly renovated Foley Field will make its debut in February against the non-conference slate, but will host its first SEC foe in the Missouri Tigers on March 13-15. The Bulldogs close the conference schedule at home on May 14-16 (Thursday-Saturday series) against the Arkansas Razorbacks.

One change with the addition of the SEC Network is that SEC teams will not be forced to play Thursday night games to get a national television audience as they have since 2011 on ESPNU’s SEC Baseball Game of the Week. The only Thursday night conference games are the last weekend to prepare for travel for the SEC Tournament.

Speaking of the SEC Tournament, UGA will (hopefully) travel to the Hoover Met twice this year. Alabama is playing their home games at the Hoover Met this year as their field undergoes a massive renovation. The second trip, would of course, be for the SEC Tournament, scheduled for May 19-24.
