UGA defensive line coach Tracy Rocker’s relationship with the Tennessee Titans from his two seasons coaching in the NFL may have paid dividends for the Dawgs, with 4-star wide receiver and one of the state of Tennessee’s top players, WR Van Jefferson, committing to Georgia’s class of 2015 on Monday.

Jefferson, son of former Atlanta Falcons player and current Tennessee Titans coach Shawn Jefferson, made his verbal pledge known and is the Dawgs’ 21st commit and a top-rated wide receiver for the 2015 class.

The Ravenwood HS product is rated as the No. 5 player in the state of Tennessee, and No. 17 wide receiver in the country, according to 247 Sports composite rankings. He chose UGA over Ohio State, Tenneesee and Penn State, among many other offers he received. Up until today, it looked to be a battle between Georgia and Ohio State to nab the 6-foot-3 wideout from Brentwood, Tn.

According to reports, Jefferson is a very good route runner, which one would expect with a 13-year NFL veteran as a father.  After a 2014 class that saw only one recruit, Shakenneth Williams, added to the roster at the position, and a bevy of current players at the position graduating, top recruits see an outstanding opportunity with Tony Ball’s unit in Athens.

If the 2012 recruiting class was tabbed as the “ring team”, this 2015 class may very well be called the “rings team” with all the talent joining the Bulldogs next season.
