The University of Georgia recently released details about the new Georgia Baseball Fund.

Is the time right for a baseball enhancement fund at Georgia?

The answer is simple – depends on who you ask.

Nothing breaks the ice between the sons and daughters of the Red and Black like the flow of dollars into and out of the Athletic Department and its various satellite organizations.

With last year’s poor baseball season, the argument is that demand will be low for tickets. On the other hand, despite the team’s dip in performance the last three years, season ticket sales for baseball have been steady. (Source, Georgia Athletic staff)

Enthusiasm for baseball has increased since Coach Scott Stricklin’s hiring. A late November 2013 midweek meet and greet introducing Coach Stricklin and presenting plans for the Foley Field renovation attracted three hundred supporters to the Foley Field outfield and wildly exceeded expectations.

A renovated Foley Field will attract new fans, but it also represents a 5 million dollar commitment in gifts by the Bulldog Nation to make the 12 million dollar renovation possible.

So the time is now – and the time is right time.

The Georgia Baseball Fund

The GBF is similar to all other Georgia athletic enhancement funds.

To retain renewable seats, the minimum donation is 50.00. Renewable season seats are in past season ticket sections. The new GBF will not affect ticket prices. GBF lifetime points (one dollar donated equals one point) will also affect post-season ticket distribution.

New premium club seating will also be available. Dugout level club seats require a 1000.00 annual donation per ticket and Press level club seats require a 750.00 donation per seat.

For the big prize, a 1500.00 annual donation gains a contributor a parking spot. If you have attended Bulldog sporting events in the past, you know that’s a bargain.

Georgia Bulldog Baseball Schedule

Opening day is February 13 at Foley Field when UNC-Charlotte visits Athens to help the Diamond Dawgs inaugurate the renovated Foley Field.

Georgia will play 33 home games in 2015, featuring Southeastern Conference series with LSU, Florida, Vanderbilt, Arkansas and Missouri.

Georgia will play 18 of its first 22 games at home including a three-game set against Florida State (February 20-22). The SEC series opener will be March 13 at Foley Field against Missouri. The other SEC home series will be with defending national champion Vanderbilt (April 3-5), LSU (April 17-19), Florida (May 1-3) and Arkansas (May 14-16).

Georgia’s SEC road series will be at Tennessee (March 20-22), South Carolina (March 27-29), Alabama (April 10-12), Auburn (April 24-26) and Kentucky (May 8-10).

The 13th annual Spring Baseball Classic to benefit Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta will be May 12 when the Bulldogs battle rival Georgia Tech at Turner Field.

The SEC Tournament again will feature the league’s top 12 finishers in the regular season and be played in Hoover, Ala. NCAA Regional action begins at campus sites in late May. The Bulldogs have made six College World Series appearances and won the national title in 1990. The Dawgs reached the CWS Finals in 2008.
