In the ups and downs that the Georgia football program has seen while Mark Richt has been head coach, the one thing that has remained constant is the success in recruiting new Georgia Bulldogs to come to Athens.

Each year Georgia consistently ranks in the Top 10 nationally with their recruiting classes (with the exception of 2010’s No. 12 class), with running backs, quarterbacks, and defensive linemen making Georgia a regular destination for the top prospects in the nation.

The 2015 class is already shaping up to be one of the best that Mark Richt has brought into the school, with 21 verbal commits — including two 5-star players — helping to give Georgia the No. 4 ranked recruiting class in the nation right now. Only Alabama, Texas A&M and Florida State sit about Georgia, with only a handful of points separating numbers 2-4.

By the numbers, this class so far has 11 out of state recruits, including three JUCO transfers, and 10 recruits who are defensive side players. That’s even distribution on both sides, and shows that Georgia’s out of state reach is greatly increasing, and that prospects know Georgia isn’t just a school for tailbacks.

Even better, 11 of the 21 commits are 4-star players or better – one of the reasons this class is already ranked as highly as it is.

The Bulldogs have two major targets the recruiting staff is still working on – 5-star DE (and the nation’s number one prospect) Josh Sweat, out of Chesapeake, Va., and 5-star CB out of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl., Tarvarus McFadden. Both are considered to be warm when it comes to looking at Georgia, with most thinking Sweat and McFadden will lean towards FSU.

With the season starting the recruiting news has slowed down a bit, so here’s an update on the commitments that Georgia currently has.
