No. 13 Georgia Bulldogs can stake claim in SEC East against Missouri

There’s still a long way to go in conference play, but a win over Missouri this coming Saturday would be an opportunity for the Georgia Bulldogs to take lead and stake their claim in the SEC East.

Beyond the win over the Gamecocks, it’s hard to tell just who the Tigers are, as three of their wins came over very light opponents, and they were beaten by a Big Ten bottom-feeder, the Indiana Hoosiers.

What this presents is a chance for the Bulldogs to assert themselves and remove a little of the cloud of doubt that is surrounding the team right now. Despite a 4-1 record and two wins in the SEC, the Bulldogs didn’t move up a single notch in the latest AP poll even though six Top 10 teams were beaten.

  • That would be a good indication that the consensus is that Georgia has too many flaws right now.

A win over the Tigers could help alleviate some of those questions, and would also put Georgia firmly in control of the SEC East…at least for a week or two.

The other two teams currently in the mix in the East are Florida and Kentucky…both of whom Georgia has to play later this season. So a win over the Tigers won’t guarantee anything, but it will be a huge step towards driving a flag in the ground and making sure that any possible tiebreakers swing Georgia’s way.
