Georgia’s Brendan Langley Continues Attrition of Grantham’s DB Recruits
Georgia defensive back Brendan Langley has requested a release from his scholarship, making him yet another defensive back recruited by Todd Grantham to exit the program.
In case you hadn’t heard, Brendan Langley doesn’t want to be a Bulldog anymore.

He joins the list of Shaquille Jones, Sheldon Dawson, Tray Matthews, Shaq Wiggins and Josh Harvey-Clemons for players who were recruited in whole or part by former defensive coordinator Todd Grantham, and who just couldn’t handle the responsibility of being a Dawg.
Langley saw mixed reviews of his play on the field, which was a baptism by fire in 2013 (I know as a freshman I wouldn’t want to be matched up with Odell Beckham, Jr.) but in 2014 he was supposed to be ready to step in. After an experiment at wide receiver, Langley was moved back to defensive back.
Used sparingly (and that’s a stretch) after moving back to the secondary, Langley has apparently conceded that his services are not going to be utilized to what he feels is his potential.
While this would seem to put a dent (again) in an already paper-thin secondary, the starters who have been out there — Corey Moore, Damian Swann, Dominick Sanders, Aaron Davis and Malkom Parrish — should be more than able to get Georgia through whatever bowl opponent they end up facing.
The Bulldogs have six defensive backs committed for the 2015 class to replenish the stock, and its certain that Richt and Pruitt are going to add to that list during the offseason.
