Mark Richt and Jeremy Pruitt have their first defensive signee for the Class of 2015 in the person of Chuks Amaechi, an outside linebacker coming from Arizona Western College.

The 6’3″ Amaechi is listed as a 3-star player, and is rated as the number one JUCO prospect in the state of Arizona, and the number two linebacker by the 247 Sports composite rankings.

Amaechi was recruited by coaches Mike Ekeler and Bryan McClendon, and signed with Georgia over offers from North Texas, Cincinnati and Southern Miss.

After attending this year’s Georgia-Georgia Tech game, Amaechi met with the Georgia coaching staff.

“I was in the office with Coach (Mark) Richt and Coach Ekeler, and they were just telling me how my future could be in Athens and how I could kind of restart at UGA. At the end of the conversation Coach Richt said, ‘Are you ready to be a Bulldog?’ and I just said, ‘Yes, sir.’”

The confirmation of Amaechi’s signing was tweeted on his account as well as Yuma, Arizona’s Sun Newspaper

Amaechi will be used either as an outside linebacker or defensive end, depending on Georgia’s and Pruitt’s needs, but a versatile and explosive player off the edge will be welcomed in any form.

The Bulldog Nation will enjoy watching this kid play, who has been described as a guy with a serious motor with decent speed and better than average strength. He joins current UGA linebacker commitments Gary McRae, Natrez Patrick, and Juwan Taylor for the 2015 class.
