  • OK, so maybe it is too early. But we’re all about throwing rankings out there, and now that we have an idea of who’s staying, who’s going and who’s coming into these programs, let the controversy begin.

Last season, Alabama and Georgia were picked by many to meet in the SEC title game. Unfortunately, a horrible loss to Florida and a miracle end of season run by Missouri kept the Bulldogs out of that game.

Auburn was a lot worse than many (except for myself) predicted, and both Mississippi teams surprised everyone by making the SEC West more than a two team race.

LSU was another usual contender that had a down season, while Arkansas and Tennessee both showed signs that they are on the rise.

The only SEC team sporting a new head coach this season will be the Florida Gators, who finally gave up on the Will Muschamp era, and found themselves a reputed offensive genius from Colorado State in Jim McElwain.

So how will things flesh out in the SEC, and can any of these team return the conference to a national championship game? Here’s our power rankings and predictions – the way-too-early version.
