“Overall I thought we had a good tournament,” head coach Manuel Diaz told Georgiadogs.com. “I thought all of our guys fought hard and had a good showing. Paul reaching the semifinals was a big accomplishment. He didn’t recover physically from his match yesterday as well as we hoped. His opponent played a good match today and was much fresher. Emil and Walker had good wins today, and I think we had good doubles play this weekend too.”

Oosterbaan is building on a freshman campaign that included a 12-match winning streak entering last year’s NCAA tournament.

Playing mostly at No. 6 in singles, he posted a 21-9 singles record, 8-0 in SEC play tying for the most SEC wins on the team. Oosterbaan was second on the team with a combined 29 singles and doubles dual match wins and second on the team with a combined 14 singles and doubles SEC wins.

While Oosterbaan played 22 matches at No. 6 and four in the number 5 singles slot, he also played five matches at number 1 doubles with Ben Wagland, five matches at number 2 to go with 19 matches at number three doubles for a 25 and 16 doubles record including three wins against ranked doubles teams.

Last fall he went 7-3 in singles and 8-3 in doubles, reached the quarterfinals of the Southern Intercollegiate Championships and won three qualifying doubles matches in ITA All-American Championships with Ben Wagland, then reached quarterfinals of main draw.

Bulldog freshmen Walker Duncan and Emil Reinberg added consolation victories to finish action in Lafayette, Louisiana. Duncan defeated the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s Vlad Kramarov 6-3, 7-6, while Reinberg topped the Ragin’ Cajuns’ Eric Perez 6-4, 6-3.

Georgia will return to action at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma on October 3.
