Georgia Basketball Recruiting Pair Adds Up to National Top 35 Class

Georgia basketball has put together a small, quiet, stellar recruiting class.

Tyree Crump (6-2, 175, guard, Bainbridge, Bainbridge High) and Jordan Harris (6’5”, 165, guard, Donalsonville, Seminole County High) followed up on their yearlong commitment to the Georgia basketball team. The pair quietly Georgia signed letters of intent today and Georgia sits at a 2016 composite national 35 rank.

“We are excited to welcome both Tyree and Jordan into our program,” Fox told Georgiadogs.com. “They are both very talented basketball players from the state of Georgia who have grown up as fans of UGA and will now have the opportunity to play for the Dogs. We expect both of these guys to be great additions to our team.”

Crump is a combo guard expected to play at the point for Georgia. Fans will find him similar to freshman Will Jackson, a bit shorter and with a better jump shot and similar on -court passion.

“Tyree is a very good athlete and has demonstrated a great ability to shoot and score,” Fox said. “He is a very competitive young man who we certainly think will have a positive impact on our program in the very near future.”

When others called, the phone was off the hook

Harris is an athletic shooting guard or small forward. A dynamic player who flaunts his athleticism and strength, he also possesses outside shooting skill as well.

“Jordan brings an element of length and athleticism into our program that we are very excited about,” Fox said. “He has the ability to play multiple positions and we love the fact that he led his high school team to a state championship last year.”

The entire recruiting process for the two South Georgia pals was quiet. Wanting to play together, the two committed to Georgia as a package deal on September 9, 2014. As the dynamic backcourt players stock rose throughout the summer, Georgia fans held their breath as powerful basketball programs called.

But when others called, the phone was off the hook. Both officially visited to Georgia and nowhere else. The recruiting process ended before last Christmas. A done deal has never been so done.

Both certainly had options. Perhaps the best backcourt tandem signed in one class, ever, by Georgia, both are 247sports.com composite four-star prospects.

Crump rose to a national 79 composite rank during the summer and received late offers from FSU, Texas A&M, and Wake Forest, but he showed no interest. After a quiet summer, Jordan Harris is listed nationally at 122. He received late offers from UConn, Memphis, and Maryland but showed no interest.

The offers were a waste of time. And there is no doubt that the pair’s rankings suffered from the lack of recruiting drama. After committing to Georgia, Crump and Harris were all Dawg all the time. They just refused to make news.

The two will replace Kenny Gaines and Charles Mann, Bulldog guards now driving for a third 20 game win season and a second NCAA Tourney bid. And while nothing is certain and everything is uncertain, Crump and Harris are talent upgrades joining a more talented and complete roster.

It could be about to get fun in the Steg for Georgia basketball fans.
