Georgia Football upset the no. 9 Auburn Tigers 13-7, allowing only 20 yards and zero first downs in the second half.

Despite the score, Georgia Football controlled most of the ball game on both sides of the ball. The defense obviously dominated the game. They only allowed 164 total yards, 80 of them came on Auburn’s touchdown drive. The Tigers ran for 127 yards and passed for 37.

But offensively, Georgia got a 100-yard game out of Nick Chubb and a 200-yard game out of Jacob Eason. They couldn’t score touchdowns but they had three drives with at least 40 yards which produced six points from Rodrigo Blankenship.

It wasn’t the prettiest game on offense, but they accomplished enough to win. Georgia managed the upset behind the effort of several Bulldogs. Here are Georgia’s MVP’s from Saturday night.

Jacob Eason

The true freshman quarterback once again lead like a veteran. He didn’t turn the ball over, converted first downs, didn’t take sacks. He just played a good, solid game.

Eason completed 20-of-31 passes for 208 yards. Not a fantastic day statistically, but it was good enough against a very good Auburn defense to lead the Bulldogs to victory.

Brice Ramsey

a large part of the reason as to why Georgia won was field position. Auburn didn’t play with good field position for most of the game because of the punting of Ramsey. He had 202 yards on six punts, three were downed inside the 20-yard line.

Nick Chubb

Chubb was a great compliment to Eason tonight. He had 101 yards on 23 carries which, like Eason, not a stellar game, but it was good for the day. Together, Eason and Chubb controlled the game on offense. They moved the ball which kept Sean White and the Tiger offense off the field.

Rodrigo Blankenship

Georgia has gone from having no confidence in the kicking game to having Sanford Stadium erupt in cheers at the sheer sight of Blankenship. The freshman kicker wasn’t perfect against Auburn, he was 2-of-3 with a long of 45 and a miss from 50. But just like Eason and Chubb, it was enough to win.

But Blankenship was perfect on kickoffs. All four went either into or out of the end zone (one landed in the stands). One of those kicks was returned out of the end zone, but the coverage team kept the return man from reaching the 15-yard line.

Mel Tucker and the Georgia defense

The offense and special teams did just enough to win, but the defense won the game. At one point however, the game looked bleak for Georgia. Auburn was moving the ball with ease, and Georgia defenders were exhausted. But Tucker made adjustments after the Auburn touchdown that kicked in immediately and emphatically.

After the 80-yard touchdown drive, Georgia gave up a mere 74 yards and three first downs. In total, Auburn only had 164 yards, only 20 of them came in the second half. The Tigers had 10 first downs, all of them came in the first 27 minutes of the game.

Sean White went 6-of-20 passing with 27 yards and one interception. That interception was a 34-yard pick-six by Maurice Smith. The defense flat-out whooped the Auburn offense for the vast majority of the game.
