Kirby Smart has opened up Georgia Football spring training for about 15 minutes a day to the media this week. While DotD couldn’t be there, several of the local media outlets were. Our go to sources for Spring training are dawgnation.com and The Athens Banner Herald. Below are a few of what we thought were the most interesting observations from this week:

Whose playing at ‘Star’?

DeAngelo Gibbs was seen playing at the Nickle back spot yesterday with the firsts. Richard Lecounte III, the other highly ranked freshman was playing corner back with the 2nd team. Both of these players have the ability to be swiss army knives in the defensive back field. Lecounte had an interception of Jake Fromm which impressed observers.

Johnathan Ledbetter looks impressive.

Dawgnation.com reported that Ledbetter, going into his Junior season looked impressive. He’s looking bigger and more physically dominant than he did last season. He’s a player that our writers are very excited about this season. He was really impressive when he returned from his suspension and 2017 could be the year when he breaks out. The word ‘Unblockable’ was thrown into the report, always a positive thing to see written about a pass rusher.

The starting offensive line will (hopefully) change.

According to The Athens Banner Herald, the Starting offensive line during the observation period was left to right: Isaiah Wynn, Dyshon Sims, Lamont Gaillard, Solomon Kindley (wearing jersey No. 69) and Aulden Bynum. It will be interesting to see if players like D’Marcus Hayes and Ben Cleveland get into the mix in the coming weeks.

The offense is changing.

Both of the reports said that the offense was working at real pace during their session. The ball was moving much quicker than it was in the previous season. This could be the implementation of some different concepts that Jim Chaney has mentioned. Nick Chubb is also back to running without a knee brace and looks good.

Finally, a quick look at at what the players have been doing:
