About a month ago, the Georgia Football team got DJ decks in their locker room. Sony Michel was the guy seen spinning tracks. He then announced that he has been working on a UGA anthem alongside Atlanta rapper Rich Homie Quan. Well that process seems to be over and Michel officially released his song today on the forth of July. He put the song out on soundcloud so anybody can listen to it here:

When I first heard that this was in the works, I said I was happy about it. While I understand that Rich Homie Quan is not exactly the best role model for our players to be around, players like his music. I still think its incredibly cool to see one of our team captains go out and do something like this. To me, it sums up how being a dawg can open a lot of doors for you in more ways than just on the football field. I’m not saying Michel is going to become a professional rapper or anything, but it’s a pretty cool thing to do.

I also think a good deal of credit should be given to Coach Smart and the University for letting Michel do something like this. To me, it’s a sign that Georgia has something special going on in that locker room this year. Bring on the season and happy 4th of July everyone!
