With the season inching closer, I’m going to preview each of the 12 games Georgia Football will have in 2017.

After a big test at Notre Dame, Georgia get to come back to Athens and play probably their easiest game of the season. But nobody is a cupcake in college football, so lets take a quick look at the Samford Bulldogs. What do you need to know about UGA’s week 3 opponent?

Who were they last year:

Samford put together a pretty successful 7-5 season in 2016. It was Head Coach Chris Hatcher’s second season in charge and the Georgia Boy put together a solid campaign. Three of their losses came against ranked FCS opponents and another was against Mississippi State. They might have lost in the first round of the FCS playoff, but overall, they had a decent season and have several key players coming back for 2017.

Their biggest achievement last year was the game against Mississippi State. They lost the game 41-56 but gave the SEC team a really tough challenge. To put up 40 points against and SEC defense is no joke and their offense was very impressive. UGA will also go up against the bulldogs from Mississippi this year and will have to beat both of these teams to make 2017 a successful season. Samford were a very young team in 2016 and they will return a lot of starters against UGA. In short, they proved that they are not an opponent to be taken lightly.
