With the season inching closer, I’m going to preview each of the 12 games Georgia Football will have in 2017.

With it’s sec West team in the rear-view mirror, Georgia Football goes into week 5 with a huge game. The Tennessee Volunteers have been the bogyman for UGA recently. 2016’s last second Hail Mary was the worst moment of the year for me. What should have been an incredible with for Kirby Smart was thrown away by idiotic play and luck. I have never really liked the Vols, but that game killed me. That’s why this game matters so much for UGA this year. It’s away from home so it won’t be easy, but we owe the Vols a tough loss. What better way to do that then go into their home and push Butch Jones closer to the exit…

Who were they last year:

Quite simply, not who they were supposed to be. They started the season as the #9 ranked team in the nation and the clear favorite to win the SEC East. With UGA rebuilding and Florida lacking a Quarterback, this was supposed to be the year the Vols took a big step. Instead, they floundered after a promising start. Yes they took App. State lightly but they still ended up winning that game (only just though).

They beat Florida and Georgia is successive weeks (although that Hail Mary.. ARRGHHHH) and then had a crunch game against Texas A&M at 5-0. They played the game hard, but lost in Kyle Field in double overtime. That was a tough but acceptable loss to the then #8 team in the nation. The next game they were blown our 49-10 by Alabama. Hardly a surprising result considering the powerhouse that Bama were last year.

They were still ranked however, but in week 8, they collapsed against a weak South Carolina team. Then, to end the season, they lost to Vanderbilt finish 8-4 and behind a Florida team they had beaten in the East. It was pretty much the definition of a disaster and it’s even worse when you consider the talent they had. Josh Dobbs was one of the top QB’s in the SEC. Their defense was loaded with players like Nick Barnett and Cam Sutton who just got drafted. 2016 was supposed to be the Vols year, but they fell flat on their face.
