With the season inching closer, I’m going to preview each of the 12 games Georgia Football will have in 2017.

Georgia Football will play a Missouri team in week 7 that is looking for redemption. The 2016 season was a tough one after so much success in the past decade. Gary Pinkel revolutionized the schools and won 5 conference divisions in 9 years. His successor, Barry Odam had a tough first year in 2016 and Georgia was one of the reasons why. The team will be expecting improvement in the new year and UGA needs to be careful they don’t fall into a trap game against the Tigers.

Who were they in 2016?

2016 was a tough year for the Missouri Tigers. Gary Pinkel retired to battle cancer and his chosen successor Barry Odam inherited a tough situation. The strong senior led teams that won the SEC East in 2013-2014 had mostly graduated and so in 2016 they were very young and inexperienced. They played a difficult schedule, and losses to West Virginia, UGA, Florida, LSU and Tennessee are nothing to be ashamed of. The manner of those defeats however were pretty tough.

Georgia went into Missouri and had a true freshman lead a game winning drive to close out the game. LSU and Florida completely blew the Tigers out and made them looked out matched. Tennessee who at this point had seen their season implode, put up 63 points against them in a game where they simply could not stop anybody.

Throw in soft losses to South Carolina and Kentucky, follow that with an embarrassing loss to Middle Tennessee and you have the Tigers 2016 season. Middle Tennessee put up 51 points against their defense… More on that later. Remember how bad you felt about Georgia vs Nicholls last year? Yep imagine how Mizzou fans felt about this game.

Now it wasn’t all bad. They ended up finishing their season out with an upset win over Arkansas in a rivalry game. But still, 2016 was a bad season for the Tigers and they will be looking to wash the bad taste out of their mouth in 2017.
