Georgia Football had a big week when it beat Notre Dame. One of its top players Lorenzo Carter got some recognition of his own this week.

Last Saturday was good for Georgia Football. Not only did they beat Notre Dame, but they had more than 40,000 fans travel up to South Bend to watch them. The level of traveling dawg fans has drawn a lot of attention. UGA has shown the entire college landscape just how good their fan base is.

Add that to a defense that looks downright nasty this year and Georgia is making moves. Kirby Smart has changed the recruiting culture at UGA. Games like the one last weekend will certainly help sell an improving program to recruits.

They also had some more good news this week when Lorenzo Carter was recognized with an award. He was named the SEC Defensive Player of the week.

Carter had quite possibly his best game as a dawg on Saturday night. This is one of the reasons he came back for his senior season. Carter has always had the talent to play like this but never quite dominated in his first 3 years in Athens. If he can keep playing like this, he likely will end up as a high draft pick in April.

More importantly for dawg fans, he’ll lead a defense that could end up being special. Smart and defensive coordinator Mel Tucker look like they have put together something special this season. If Carter and his co-rusher Davin Bellamy can keep playing like this, opposition QB’s better buckle up. It’s going to be really fun to watch!
