Georgia Football is back on the practice field and we are getting out first look at some highly touted freshmen. But other players are making moves as well.

With the Georgia Football team kicking off spring practice, we can finally see things happening on a football field again. Yesterday, UGA had their second session of the week and tomorrow, the pads will come on for the first time.

It’s been a great chance for fans to get their first glance of several prominent freshmen. Zamir White is jogging around despite the fact that he’s recovering from knee surgery. Justin Fields has been zipping the ball around and creating serious buzz with his arm. More than one observer has said that it’s genuinely special, although he’s still working on his accuracy. Brenton Cox has flashed as well apparently.

But there have been more than just freshmen playing. In fact, the more meaningful movers to start with are all a bit older. Issac Nauta looks to have dropped a few pounds and has been impressive so far. He’s also becoming a more vocal leader for the team and is someone to keep an eye on right now.

Elijah Holyfield and Brian Herrien both look improved from last year. This spring is going to be key for both of them. With White out, both need to impress now to potentially win time this fall. Also, another name to keep an eye on is Michael Barnett. He was a pretty highly ranked DL prospect back in 2015 but it’s taken him a while to figure things out. Reports have said that he’s impressing out there and that the light may have come on. That’s a good thing for DL coach Tray Scott.

Tomorrow’s practice should be a good one. Pads will be on and we’ll see a little bit of hitting again plus, some of the rust should be shaken off. There are also expected to be several top prospects in Athens this weekend to coincide with that practice. We’ll let you know more on Sunday with our next spring practice update.
