Georgia Football will be asking a lot from some very young defensive backs in 2018.

With most of the team now in Athens, we can start to think more about what the 2018 Georgia Football team is going to look like. The Dawgs have seen two players drop out of their heralded 2018 recruiting class. Tramel Walthour seems to be taking the same route as Devonte Wyatt last season. He’ll be spending this season at JUCO before arriving in Athens in December.

However, the Dawgs have also lost Nadab Joseph. A very talented defensive back prospect, this might be a big blow for UGA. Joseph is going to have to spend a full 2 years at JUCO according to reports. Unlike Wyatt and Walthour, he’s not going to necessarily honor his commitment to UGA after that. right now, it’s looking like this probably ends his relationship with Georgia.

Joseph was a shock signing back in December. He was committed to Alabama was expected to sign there. He’s a very well regarded player who could have come in and really challenged for a spot. The secondary is a real area of need for 2018. They really only have 2 players coming back in JR Reed and Deandre Baker and while those two are very good, they need 3 players to step up in the other spots.

We know how good those two players are, both made preseason All-SEC lists. But today we’re going to look at who else could step up and help the secondary. Joseph won’t be one of those players anymore, but thankfully there is still plenty of talent in Athens for Mel Tucker to work with.
