Georgia Football has had a very happy 3 days, with three new commits heading to Athens, so lets take a quick look at how they might fit in.

Well that was  fun long weekend wasn’t it. The Georgia Football team had 3 days of good news last week on the recruiting trail. First they welcomed one of the most talented receivers in the country back home in Demetris Robertson. Then they got a commitment from a defensive tackle before finishing up with an offensive linemen. Not a bad little stretch.

With those guys now in the fold, I thought it would be a good time to dive a little into their film and see what each of these guys could bring to Athens. We’ll start with the most exciting guy in Robertson.

Demetris Robertson, Wide Receiver

Unlike our other two prospects, we actually have footage of Robertson playing college football. I shared this video when we first had a shot to sign him and again, I think it’s worth watching.

What you can take from that film is that Robertson is a true deep threat. When his QB has time to throw it deep, he’s got the speed and skills to get behind defensive backs. Robertson has been timed previously running a sub 4.4 40 yard dash. He is in fact likely faster than current UGA speedster Mecole Hardman.

Robertson might be able to play in 2018. That will depend on whether than NCAA grants him a hardship after missing almost all of last year and his family currently experiencing medial issues. That remains a long shot however and so it is more likely that he will instead not play until 2019.

Once he arrives, Robertson will bring something truly new to Georgia. An elite true number one receiver. Terry Godwin will be dangerous this season, as will Riley Ridley and Hardman. However, none of them can scare defensive backs quite like Robertson. He lit up the PAC-12 as a freshman and has the talent to be one of the very best receivers in the country.

I expect him to spend this season adjusting to the physicality of the SEC with his new team. He’s going to find practices and play in general very different to what he saw out west. However, when his time comes, Robertson could potentially break Terrance Edwards current receiving record at UGA. That’s how special of a player we’re talking about.
