Georgia Football has made defensive tackle Travon Walker one of their top priorities for the 2019 class. On Tuesday, Walker will announce his decision.

There might be no more important of a player for Georgia Football to get a commitment from right now that Travon Walker. The Dawgs have missed on a few of their defensive line targets for the 2019 class. CJ Clark and Josh Harris are heading to NC State. ‘Rambo’ Hunter has committed to FSU. The Dawgs and DL coach Tray Scott need a win at a position of need going forward.

Walker is the best of the bunch. One of the most athletic players in the country, he has the potential to be a transcendent talent at defensive tackle. That’s why he’s a 5-star player in the 247Composite rankings. He still needs to put on a bit of weight and right now, he’s closer to a 5-technique in Kirby Smarts system than the 3-tech that the Dawgs want him to play. But all the tools are there for him to be special.

Walker announced this weekend that he’s ready to make his commitment. It is thought that UGA is fighting it out with South Carolina for his commitment. The Gamecocks have made a big push with Walker so this one could be close. As a homegrown talent, this is the kind of player that Georgis simply cannot afford to lose. Especially to a division rival.

Next: 41 days until Kickoff!

Walker will commit on Tuesday night on a TV broadcast on Fox5. I would say the fact that he’s doing it on an Atlanta TV network makes me feel better, but we were all burned by Owen Pappoe just a few months ago. Fingers crossed the Dawgs can land this guy. If they do, then the Dawgs will have 4 5-star players already in their 2019 class. That would be 2 more than any other program in the entire country.
