The Georgia Football team recently lost it’s three most talented and most experienced wide receivers to the NFL in Riley Ridley, Mecole Hardman, and Terry Godwin.

While losing three starters in a single position group would leave some teams scrambling, Georgia football has plenty of young, talented players at wide receiver waiting to get a taste of success on the field.

The Bulldogs shouldn’t see any drop in production in the passing game if some of these players can reach their full potential.

Jake Fromm’s go-to receiver this year will likely be junior Jeremiah Holloman. After playing sparingly as a freshman in 2017, Holloman burst onto the scene last year becoming one of Fromm’s favorite targets.

He hauled in 24 catches for 418 yards to go along with five touchdowns, and I expect those numbers to rise in 2019 as Holloman looks to fill the void left by Ridley, Hardman, and Godwin.

More from Dawn of the Dawg

The Dawgs have several receivers entering their second or third years with the program who all have immense talent but just haven’t seen it translate into success on the field just yet.

Some of the players that come to mind are Tommy Bush, Kearis Jackson, Matt Landers, and Demetris Robertson.

If just a couple of those players can step up to provide threats in the passing game behind Holloman, Georgia could have an extremely prolific passing attack in 2019.

Perhaps the two most intriguing wide receivers on Georgia’s entire team are incoming freshmen, Dominick Blaylock and George Pickens.

Pickens is one of the highest-rated recruits the Bulldogs have signed in recent memory regardless of position and Blaylock ranked as the No. 5 overall receiver.

Blaylock doesn’t possess great size but he’s incredibly athletic and has tremendous hands. He could absolutely thrive in the slot on offense and help in the kick return game if he’s able to weather the storm of playing as a freshman in the SEC.

Pickens recently arrived on campus after months of speculation about whether he would be able to qualify academically to enroll at Georgia. He has the best chance of any player on the roster to emerge as a young star in Georgia’s passing game.

At 6’5″ and 200 pounds, he has drawn comparisons to former great A.J. Green. Pickens seemingly flipped from Auburn to Georgia on signing day out of nowhere in February, and Dawg fans have been eagerly awaiting his arrival.

Now that he is officially enrolled don’t be surprised to see Pickens hauling in plenty of passes from Fromm this fall for the Dawgs.

You can describe Georgia’s receiving core as a whole like this: an immensely talented group with a lot to prove in 2019.

There will be no shortage of opportunities this season for these young receivers to establish themselves in the program and help contribute to what could end up being one of the best offenses in the country.
