Georgia football is looking to rebound from its loss to South Carolina this week when they take on the Kentucky Wildcats for homecoming. Here are three things Georgia needs to do to beat Kentucky.

We all know what happened to Georgia football last week against the Gamecocks. Now we move onto the Kentucky Wildcats.

It’s homecoming week, and no team wants to lose their homecoming game.

There are quite a few things the Dawgs need to work on and do as a team before Saturday, along with the rest of the season.

Kentucky will not be a pushover for the Dawgs, and Georgia will have to find a way to finish.

It’s surprising saying that after being on such a high horse going into last week.

Now that the Dawgs have gotten a wake-up call, here are three things Georgia must do to defeat the Wildcats.

Establish the run

This is the most important thing in football. If you can not run the ball then you become one dimensional. This was one of the reasons Georgia lost last week. Jake Fromm is 0-5 when passing more than 30 times. Georgia needs to keep Fromm between 15-25 passes at the most.

This stat is why establishing the run is so important. Teams have figured out that if you force the game into Jake Fromm’s hands, there is a good chance you can win.

Opponents that have stacked the box and shut down Georgia’s run game have been able to beat the Dawgs.

The good news is Kentucky’s rushing defense is ranked No. 83 in the nation. So this should be a good bounce-back game for Georgia’s rushing attack. Kentucky is giving up 173 rushing yards a game.

Look for Georgia to take advantage of that.

Defense continues to be dominant

Georgia’s defense has turned it on this year. Their scoring defense is ranked No. 6 in the nation, giving up just 12.3 points a game.

Even though Georgia ultimately lost last week, the defense gave up only 10 points in regulation. Georgia’s rushing defense is also ranked No. 6 in the nation, giving up just 73 yards a game on the ground.

If there is a weakness in Georgia’s defense, it is defending the pass. The Bulldogs are ranked No. 57 in the nation in passing defense, giving up 208 yards a game.

Georgia is ranked No. 12 in the nation in total defense, giving up an average of 281 yards a game.

Kentucky’s offense is ranked No. 89 in total offense, No. 41 in rushing offense, and No. 104 in passing offense. So Georgia’s defense should have another dominating performance Saturday.

Get turnovers

Georgia has an even turnover margin on the season. They have turned over the ball eight times and gotten eight turnovers. Georgia has got to get more turnovers and stop turning the ball over themselves. Georgia does have five interceptions on the season, but just three fumbles.

Kentucky has a -2 turnover margin. They have given the ball away 11 times and gotten nine turnovers. Kentucky is just as likely to turn over the ball as they are to take the ball away. So Georgia will have to be careful with the ball, but there should be opportunities to take the ball away.

Kentucky has lost six fumbles and thrown five interceptions. It looks like Kentucky has a hard time holding on to the ball and this is where I would mostly focus on Saturday. Try to get a helmet on the ball or punch it out.

Overall I think Georgia takes out their frustration from last week on Kentucky this week. I believe you will see a focused and determined Dawg team that is looking to prove that the loss to South Carolina was a fluke. The running game will get back on track, the defense will continue to dominate, and I believe the Dawgs get three turnovers.
