Our new LB coach, Kirk Olivadotti, who we have inherited from the NFL’s Washington Redskins, if nothing else has the right attitude; comes across with the toughness needed for the position; and seems to know what it is going to take to get production out of our players.

In an interview with the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Olivadotti, son of NFL veteran coach, Tom Olivadotti, said that in his first meeting with the players, he made it extremely clear that if they want to play, “They’re going to run to the ball, and they’re going to hit something; that’s what I’ve told them. That was the first meeting that we did. I told them, ‘You play if you run to the ball and hit something.’ We’ll take it from there.”

In discussing the transition from the Pros to coaching college kids, his approach sounds right on rock solid. “There’s going to be a difference, said Olivadotti, I remember when I was 20 years old. . . . But at the same time people are people. You’re going to have guys that are going to work their butts off; you’re going to have guys that you’re going to have to motivate, and you’re going to have guys that you have to always make it their idea in order for them to want to do it. Those are the different things that you do in life. I have to do it with my 3-year-old daughter.” (source: AJC.Com)

If you close your eyes, you could swear you hearing Brian Van Gorder. Well, we shall see what we shall see. Time will only tell. But, the truth is the truth in that our Defense couldn’t get much worse than they were last year, so we should all look forward to nothing but improvement.

Welcome to Athens Coach Olivadotti! Lets ‘Kick Some Ass and Take Names Later!’ And, once again let’s tip our hat to Todd Grantham on what appears at this point as a great hire.

It was announced today that Washaun Ealey is once again out of the ‘dawg house,’ and will resume activities with the team on Monday. It was just February 8, 2011 when CMR announced Ealey’s suspension from all team activities, ‘indefinitely,’ for not doing things “The Georgia Way!” The emphasis on ‘indefinite’ would have led a normal interpretation to be a long time if not forever. Apparently, as each human year equals seven in dog years, in Athens, each indefinite suspension in human years equals only 2 ½ weeks in ‘Dawg years.” (source: nbcsports.com)

You see, when you and I were young and stupid and did the occasional dumb thing, we were lucky to be granted the cherished “second chance” to straighten up and fly right. Ergo the old saying “three strikes and you’re out!” But not in today’s society. No sir! Second chances are a thing of the past. You see now, especially if you are a football player for a major university; you are entitled by birthright to a third, fourth, fifth, and maybe even sixth chance to screw up again.

It is all a matter of perspective. In our current society, there are no bad kids or juvenile delinquents; there are only good kids, who continually find themselves in bad ‘situations.’ So, CMR, way to go! You’re a good man for giving this poor lad multiple chances to get straight. You have set a fine example for the other members of your football team!

By the way CMR, regarding Zach Mettenberger, who wasn’t even given a second chance (and trust me, I‘m not saying he should have), I have two questions: 1) Where is the parity? 2) In twenty five words or less, explain the difference between the ‘Georgia Way’ and the ‘LSU Way’ (where Mettenberger will more than likely start this year). Wouldn’t it be a bitch if we win the East this year; go to Atlanta to play LSU (Western Division winner); and lose the Championship to Mettenberger. Nah! Couldn’t happen! Right?
