5. Ohio State Buckeyes
Let’s move on to teams outside of the SEC now.
While there are a few teams that stand out as a serious threat to win it all this coming season, that list starts with the defending National Champion Ohio State Buckeyes. Similarly to Georgia, the Buckeyes will have a new QB under center this season, but that clearly wasn’t an issue for the Buckeyes last season.
Ohio State will once again have one of the top offenses in the country with a defense that can more than hold their own. The Buckeyes, like Georgia, are also one of the teams likely to make the CFP every year as well, so as long as that is the case they will be a threat to win it all.
But can Ohio State survive the Big Ten? Last year the Buckeyes were one loss away from failing to reach the CFP in the first place, so even though they seem like a team who will be their every season, there is an outside chance they miss the playoff altogether.
But that is extremely unlikely to happen this year as Ohio State is one of the favorites to win it all and prevent Georgia from doing so.
