The NFL Combine is set to begin Thursday, Feb. 27, and Georgia football once again is one of the programs with the most participants in the event. In fact, the Bulldogs had 14 players invited which is tied for the second most in the country behind the National Champion Ohio State Buckeyes.

However, even though 14 players were invited, not every Bulldog will actually participate as two star players announced on Wednesday that they will not be taking part in the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, IN this weekend.

Mykel Williams and Jalon Walker

According to multiple reports, defensive lineman Mykel Williams and linebacker Jalon Walker will not participate in the Combine this weekend.

The Combine is a great opportunity for each player to show all 32 NFL organizations who they are and what their skill set looks like. This is the best opportunity they will get to increase their draft stock and make some teams interested in drafting them when they may have not been on their radar before the Combine.

That is why these decisions from both Williams and Walker might be a little surprising. However, both players don’t really have anything to worry about when it comes to getting drafted later this spring. Both players are projected to be first round draft picks, and them choosing to opt out of the Combine won’t change that.

Georgia will also hold a Pro Day in Athens later this spring before the NFL Draft, so both players could use that as their opportunity to show NFL organizations what they’re made of.

So even though two of Georgia’s best players from this past season will not be participating, there are plenty of reasons to be excited for the Combine as 12 other Bulldogs will lace it up as they attempt to improve their draft stocks.
