Georgia football is gearing up for the biggest game of their season against Ole Miss this weekend. The Rebels are undefeated and sit atop the SEC standings, and Georgia knows they have to win this game if they are going to repeat as SEC Champions this season.

Georgia also knows that beating Ole Miss will not be easy, and two veteran Bulldogs discussed the challenges they will face as well as the preparations taking place ahead of this matchup.

Punching through challenges

Junior linebacker Raylen Wilson has already made a mark this season with 38 total tackles and one sack. During his recent media session, he highlighted the defensive mindset that drives Georgia.

When asked about the memorable goal-line punch-out with teammate CJ Allen, Wilson called it a “one-two punch,” emphasizing the shared effort and situational awareness that defines the Bulldogs defense. “If one of us ain’t hit, then she could go the other way,” Wilson said.

He also discussed the team’s ability to adjust midghame. Despite slow starts, the defense has shown resilience all season long, locking in on sideline adjustments from coaches like Schumann and Kirby Smart, then executing them on the field. Wilson stressed that consistent practice and focus are what make in-game adjustments work from hand strength to punch-outs and navigating complex offensive schemes.

Cash Jones: Veteran presence in the backfield

Redshirt senior running back Cash Jones brings reliability to the Georgia offense, with 10 receptions for 92 yards and one touchdown while also averaging 9.2 yards per catch this season. Jones praised his competition with Wilson in practice, noting it elevates the entire team.

“Going against him makes me better, makes all the other back better, too.”

Jones also discussed leadership in the backfield, pointing to teammates like Chauncey Bowens and Gunner Stockton. He highlighted Bowens' physicality and improvement, while praising Stockton’s growth as a vocal, resilient quarterback who shows “fire when he needs to” on the field. Jones insight underscores the Bulldogs emphasis on teamwork, mental toughness, and learning from mistakes like bouncing back after fumbles or critical plays.

Looking ahead

Both Wilson and Jones are clear-eyed about the challenge No. 5 Ole Miss presents this week. Wilson called quarterback Trinidad Chambliss a “really big threat with his legs” and noted the teams ongoing focus on execution. Joens echoed the sentiment, highlighting the Rebels speed, physicality, and disciplined coaching under Lane Kiffin.

For Georgia fans, these sessions provide a glimpse into the preparation for the Bulldogs. With Wilson anchoring the defense and Jones providing veteran leadership in the backfield, Georgia is poised to face Ole Miss with both confidence and adaptability.
