A lot can happen in six years. You can fulfill some of life's biggest accomplishments. But apparently, six years isn't enough time for Florida to figure out how to beat Georgia. The Gators haven't celebrated a win over their biggest SEC rival since 2020, and after another miserable Saturday against the Bulldogs, that drought has officially reached six consecutive losses, including nine of the last 10.
Think about how much the world has changed since Florida last beat Georgia. We've had multiple presidential elections, lived through a pandemic, Twitter became X, artificial intelligence took over the internet, and Georgia won two national championships.
Meanwhile, Florida has cycled through coaches, quarterbacks, and countless excuses, only to reach the same familiar final destination every fall: another loss to Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs. Even a change of scenery couldn't save the Gators this time around.
At this point, Florida fans might be better off finding a new hobby rather than spending another year hoping things will be different against Georgia. After all, they've had six years to accomplish just about anything imaginable, except watching their favorite football team beat the Bulldogs.
With that in mind, here are 20 things Florida fans could have accomplished since the last time the Gators managed to beat Georgia.
The life accomplishments Florida fans could have managed to finish
1. Enrolled at Florida, earned a bachelor's degree, and finished a master's degree. All without seeing the Gators beat Georgia once.
2. Started medical school and became a doctor. Six years is enough time to finish medical school and much of a residency. Apparently, curing Florida's Georgia problem takes longer.
3. Met someone, dated, got engaged, married, and had two kids. An entire family could have been created without witnessing a Florida victory over Georgia.
4. Gone from middle school to college. A kid who was in seventh grade when Florida last beat Georgia could now be a college freshman.
5. Paid off a 72-month car loan. A Florida fan could have bought a brand-new truck after the 2020 victory, made every payment, and owned it outright before another win over the Bulldogs.
6. Completed an entire presidential term and half of another. American politics has changed plenty since 2020. The Georgia-Florida rivalry hasn't.
7. Trained for and completed six marathons. One marathon for every consecutive loss to Georgia.
8. Learned a new language and became fluent. Six years of Spanish, French, or even Italian lessons could have prepared Florida fans to express their disappointment in two languages.
The pop culture and technology trends
9. Watched the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe multiple times. Every movie, every Disney+ series, every post-credit scene. Still fewer recurring Thanos nightmares than Florida has experienced against Georgia.
10. Watched all of Stranger Things and waited for the series to end. The show concluded in 2025. Florida's losing streak did not.
11. Bought a PlayStation 5 at launch and watched it become old technology. The PS5 arrived in November 2020, the same month as Florida's last victory. Gaming technology has evolved. Florida's record against Georgia hasn't.
12. Watched Twitter become X. The name changed, the ownership changed, the verification system changed. The winner of Georgia-Florida didn't.
13. Built a successful TikTok account and became a social media influencer. Six years is plenty of time to go from posting your first awkward TikTok video to accumulating millions of followers, landing sponsorship deals, and turning social media into a full-time career. Florida fans could have made a fortune and retired from influencing before seeing another victory over Georgia. Apparently, going viral is easier than beating Kirby Smart.
14. Purchased and discarded six different iPhone models. Apple has figured out how to improve the iPhone six times since 2020. Florida has had six chances to upgrade its game plan against Georgia and keeps getting the same result: a system failure.
Six historical accomplishments that took six years or less (not that Florida fans could accomplish these)
15. The United States fought and won World War II (1941–1945). The United States entered World War II following the attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941. By September 1945, Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan had been defeated. America helped defeat the Axis powers in less than four years. Florida hasn't defeated Georgia in six.
16. America put a man on the moon (1963–1969). Following President John F. Kennedy's assassination in November 1963, NASA continued the Apollo program, eventually landing Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin on the moon in July 1969. In less than six years, Americans went from mourning a president to watching humans walk on another world. Florida fans are still waiting to see their team do anything but the walk of shame.
17. The Empire State Building was constructed (1930–1931). Construction began on the Empire State Building in March 1930 and was completed in just over 13 months. Workers erected a 102-story skyscraper that would become one of the world's most recognizable landmarks. In the time since Florida last beat Georgia, workers could have built the Empire State Building five times.
18. The Wright brothers went from their first powered flight to launching an aviation revolution (1903–1909). In December 1903, Orville and Wilbur Wright achieved the first successful controlled, sustained flight of a powered, heavier-than-air aircraft. By 1909, they had demonstrated workable aircraft and secured a contract with the U.S. Army. In roughly six years, humanity went from barely getting an airplane off the ground to developing military aviation. Florida still can't get off the ground against Georgia.
19. The Golden Gate Bridge was built (1933–1937). Construction of San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge began in January 1933, and the iconic suspension bridge opened in May 1937. One of the greatest engineering achievements of our lifetime took approximately four years and four months to complete. Florida fans have had enough time to build a bridge across the Golden Gate and still haven't found a way to cross the goal line enough times to beat Georgia.
20. Built two NFL stadiums from the ground up. Construction of Levi's Stadium, home of the San Francisco 49ers, began in April 2012 and was completed in July 2014. Meanwhile, the Las Vegas Raiders' $1.9 billion Allegiant Stadium took less than three years to complete. Combined, those two state-of-the-art NFL facilities were completed in less time than Florida has gone without beating Georgia. Apparently, building two professional football stadiums is easier than building a football team capable of beating Kirby Smart.
