Freshman Dexter Morant leaves team..

Coach Mark Richt announced yesterday that Rivals no.15 DE prospect Dexter Morant has left the team.
Richt from his post practice media session:
"Football’s just not for everybody.” “I think he felt like he lost the desire to play. We tried to convince him that it would be in his best interest to stay and fight through it. . . . In the end, he felt like it wasn’t for him, at least not right now.”"
Although touted as a DE out of HS, the 6-7 240 lb native of Manning, S. C. was projected to play outside LB in Todd Grantham’s new 3-4 scheme.
Morant’s exit leaves a sore spot in UGA’s depth this year with Darryl Gamble just being moved to OLB recently to back up Cornelius Washington and Freshman Reuben Faloughi is slated to back up Justin Houston at the other outside spot.
In other practice notes from Wednesday, the Dawgs added shoulder pads for the first time Wednesday. Richt stated the day was the hottest so far but that everyone held up extremely well. Richt also pointed out that Darryl Gamble and A.J. Green were having standout camps so far.
Richt also stated that Tavarres King’s alcohol related suspension would likely remain at one game.
Don’t forget that the annual Fan Picture day is slated for Aug. 21st this year. Russ, the interim Bulldog mascot will be available for pictures between 1pm-3pm while the 2010 Bulldogs will be at the stadium from 3pm-5pm.
