Dogs lose a 5 star recruit as practice continues…

As the Dogs days of practice continue(no pun intended), the 2010 version of the Georgia Bulldogs held a 2 hour session yesterday in jerseys, shells, and shorts. The practice was semi low key with Coach Mark Richt letting up a little to try to help get a few guys healthy.
New DC Todd Grantham had a few quotes about the battles going on for starting spots on defense:
"“We’re getting close at some positions, but there’s still some time in the next week and a half as we look at our depth.” “Defense is about making plays and getting the best players out on the field. To do that, we’re moving some guys around to develop depth.”"
Grantham was asked specifically about the competition going on for the nose tackle position between Kwame Geathers and Justin Anderson. “Kwame and ‘Bean’ (Anderson) have done a nice job, I noticed them in Saturday’s scrimmage and that’s a good thing,” said Grantham. “The closer you are to the ball, the faster things happen, and as the nose, you’re right there. You have to react to the blocking schemes, and they’ve done well.”
Junior WR Logan Gray did not participate in practice Wednesday due to an injured ankle. He is listed as day to day. Safety Bacarri Rambo remains in a non-contact jersey because of a “stinger.”
Inside linebacker Akeem Dent has taken part in walkthroughs and meetings while he’s been sidelined following surgery for a broken toe, but his role for the opener is still to be determined. “How we would play him or if we would play him would be based upon how he goes the week of game week,” Grantham said
James Wilder Jr, a Tampa-Plant RB/LB, picked Florida St. over UGA and Florida yesterday. Wilder was rated the number 3 prospect in the nation by Rivals.com. It had long been rumored that Wilder was coming to UGA and yesterday he came out on the stage in a red sweater vest and black polo shirt. He bluffed going for a UGA hat 3 times before picking up the FSU hat and putting it on. “I thought I’d try to trick out some people,” Wilder said with a smile afterwards. On a personal note, I really don’t know why kids do this. IMO you come out, announce your school and then be gracious to all the other schools that offered you. Thats just me though I guess.
