LAM, “CAM,” THANK YUH, MAM! BLINDED BY THE LIGHT!

Have you ever said “I wish my team had just got their butts kicked from the get go, instead of giving me false hope that they could really pull it off?” Well that’s what I said at the beginning of the fourth quarter Saturday evening. After three shots of tequila and the Dawgs putting up 21 points in the first quarter to Auburn’s 7, like a fool I was doing the backwards moonwalk in front of a “flock” of War Eagle fans. Talk about embarrassment a few minutes later when Auburn tied it up! Then to make things worse, with 51 seconds left in the first half; Georgia taking possession at the 21 yard line; one time out left; and plenty of time to go down the field and have a shot at a field goal, what does our coach do? Mr. Richt opts to have our team tuck their “dog tails” between their legs and limp back to the locker room, by having Murray “take a knee.” Playing it safe and conservative when you have nothing to lose? What am I missing here?
It was the beginning of the end. I would like to say that Auburn didn’t play fair, in that on every offensive down our Defense was “blinded” by Cam Newton’s huge, bright, white, “pearly whites” he flashes for all those smiles, and they just couldn’t see which way he was going. However, as admitted by Justin Houston post-game, the defense continues to have blown assignments as they have all season, and there are players who still do not get it. Translation, our Defense sucks worse than it did under Willie Martinez, and who would have ever thought that possible? The only difference is the new coach has a $750,000 annual contract. Saturday was bizarre in more ways than one. The first thing I see on the sports news sites Saturday morning was that The University of Colorado has Mark Richt high up on their short list and wants to interview him for the vacant head coaching job. Then of course, there was the near melee that took place at the end of the game between the players that resulted in two Auburn Defensive players being ejected. That took place after our quarterback got knocked out of the game after more than one “cheap shot” from a particular Auburn player, who shall go nameless. The jury is still out as to Murray’s knee injury, although he left a “Twitter” on Sunday that stated he was alright. Finally, after this game which puts us at a losing season record of 5-6, before we have even played Georgia Tech, our Athletics Director stated unequivocally, as if it were never even an question, that Mark Richt will be back in 2011, when asked about his status. At the end of the day, our defense gave up 463 yards (315 rushing and 148 passing) and 49 points. Irk Russell is rolling in his grave just about now! What has happened to my Junkyard Dawgs?????????????
