DAWGS SEEK ANOTHER ATHLETIC RECRUIT WITH NO CLASS!

Tailback Isaiah Crowell from Carver High School, right here in Columbus, Georgia, is a 5 star recruit by most recruiting prognosticators and an Atlanta Journal Constitution Super 11 selection.  Nobody has been able to stop this “Dreadlocked” hair-styled kid all season until the play-off this weekend against No. 3 Calhoun’s defense, which put a body lock on Crowell and his Carver team for a 27-14 upset.  Crowell was held to 94 yards on 20 carries and one touchdown, far less than his norm.

The 6-foot, 210-pound athlete — who finishes the season with 1,721 yards rushing on 147 carries (11.7 ypc) and 18 TDs, totally lost his composure.  He was flagged for taunting the Calhoun crowd (unsportsmanlike conduct) after a 50-yard TD run that was called back due to a penalty. He was also seen yelling and complaining on the field and on the sideline throughout the game.  His coach chalked up his behavior as lacking maturity and “wearing his emotions on the outside sometimes.”  How about chalking it up to no proper upbringing, no class, and no discipline, Coach?

Notwithstanding this, seven of our coaches, including Todd Grantham, Mike Bobo and Scott Lakatos, were there to watch and are undeterred in their pursuit of Crowell.  CMR apparently has one personal contact with Crowell and will use it for an in-home visit at a later date, according to reports.  Crowell, allegedly has his choices narrowed between Georgia and Alabama.  However, as of yesterday, he thought it would be “really cool” to state that he will not announce what school he was going to commit to until signing day (in other words, let the schools and public sweat it out while “his majesty makes his choice!”) (source of all above information:  Bleacher Report.Com)

Do me a favor Crowell, go to Alabama!  We have enough problems at Georgia with no class problem children having already been recruited, signed up, and then arrested (11 arrests this year.)  When are these coaches going to get it in their heads that they need to not only look at athleticism but also upbringing, morals, and class?  What is wrong with recruiting someone who has all these attributes?  So, if you have to get a 4 star instead of a 5 star, that is clean cut, polite; is respectful; has been raised right; and averages a yard less per carry than a “thug,” wouldn’t that be the better choice?  In the past, CMR, you obviously have not thought along these lines, and look what you have gotten, a program with probably more arrests per year than any other major college football team.

Coach Richt, this is the same situation you had at Florida State when you were the Offensive Coordinator there.  You recruited a bunch of athletic prima donnas that constantly got into trouble.  FSU had the reputation of having the worst problem with players getting in trouble with the law, and now that same issue has followed you to Georgia.  There obviously is a connection there, and it must start with recruiting and your philosophy behind it.

I would rather have a bunch of kids with average to good talent that have the psyche to form a “team,” than to recruit a bunch of arrogant individualistic super stars.  We have tried that over the last few years, and see where it has gotten us?  That’s my opinion and I’m sticking with it!
