URBAN OUT! SPURRIER IN??????

facebooktwitterreddit

News has broken that Urban Meyer, head coach of the Florida Gators, has, once again announced his retirement, as he did this same time last year and changed his mind a day later.  However, this time it appears that it is for real.  He will coach the Gator’s bowl game in the Outback Bowl against Joe Paterno’s Nittany Lions and hang it up.  As much as we Dawgs hate with a passion those slimy lizards down in Gainesville, we all have to admit that Urban Meyer is an incredible head football coach, who has accomplished almost the impossible in the short time he has been with the University of Florida.

Meyer was hired in December 2004 and coached his first game with the Gators September 2005.  January of 2007 (Sixteen months later), he won the first of two BCS National Championship games during his tenure at UF.  During his six years at the helm, his teams beat the Dawgs all but one season (2008). So, the question of the day is “What now?”  Is this a chance for the Dawgs to win a couple or more games against the “evil green meanies,” while they rebuild with a new coach at the helm?  I doubt it and, for this reason:  THE EVIL GENIUS WILL BE COMING BACK TO FLORIDA.  MARK MY WORDS!  Is this factual news or rumor at this point?  No.  It’s my fatalistic Dawg intuition that South Carolina’s Steve Spurrier will be returning home to Gainesville, and the Dawgs will be screwed, glued and tattooed once again.

It may not already be a done deal and in the bag (although that would not surprise me), but Florida will go after him; the hatchet will be buried between he and AD Foley; and he will return.  I also predict that it will quickly take place immediately following USC’s Bowl game, so that Florida’s recruiting will not suffer from Meyer’s announcement.  What do you think?????????????
