ROME WASN’T BUILT IN A DAY, AND THAT’S WHY WE WANT THIS TIGHT END, BAD!

Well, Jay Rome, the 5 star TE recruit, mentioned in my earlier blog, had his weekend visit in Athens this past weekend.  Apparently the Dawgs did a good job of making him feel welcomed, as his dad, Stan Rome, stated “Jay’s going to take some time now and pray on it and meditate on it and if things keep coming back the same it will probably be Georgia.”   Amen to that!  Jay, my friend, we need you dude!  (source: bleacher report.com)

In fact, it looks like we will definitely need him.  After an interview with the press on Sunday, A.J. Green did everything but come out and say he was definitely going Pro (as if there was ever any question.)  The one reservation he had about going Pro before, that being a possible NFL “Lock Out,” has been apparently resolved in his mind and removed as a stumbling block to going for the “big bucks.”  A.J. was quoted, in reference to same, as saying, “I did a lot of research on it, just thinking, looking at some of the stuff going on.  I don’t think there’s gonna be a lockout. I think it’s gonna last a couple days. There’s gonna be a lot of people losing a lot of money if there’s a lockout.”  He also stated that he understood that there would be a draft regardless of a lockout. (source: macon.com)  Additionally, with Chris Durham our best TE on the team graduating in May, we are losing our best hands without a doubt, and we have a huge void to fill.

It will be interesting how all of the musical chairs being played with SEC coaching spots will have an impact, if any, on recruiting.  Will the situation at Florida, with Urban a proven head coach heading out and a newbie (Muschamp) to the head coaching position coming in, help Georgia with the recruits that were on the fence with the two schools, or not?  What about the heavily passed rumor that Auburn’s Gus Malzahn, their offensive guru, is going to take the head coaching job with Vandy?  Will that help Georgia with the fence sitters between Auburn and us? Hopefully so, because Auburn always heavily recruits in Georgia and always seems to get the good ones.

What do you think?  Welcome Jay Rome to “Dawg Town, “ I hope!
