CHAPAS: ENDS GEORGIA CAREER BEFORE LIBERTY BOWL
By Editorial Staff
Shaun Chapas who has had a nagging ankle problem for some time has put it off as long as he could, without getting necessary surgery. He underwent this surgery this past Friday; will miss the Dawgs Liberty Bowl appearance; and his career at Georgia is done. Chapas, a Senior captain, has had a great career as a fullback, and his presence will be sorely missed. CMR had the following to say regarding Shaun’s injury, “He’s been trying to play through it, but it’s just progressively gotten worse and he needed to clean it up.”
Bruce Figgins, a Junior from Columbus, Georgia, a third-string tight end, is getting reps at the fullback position. Coach Richt said in regard to Figgins, “We’ll see how this thing goes and see how he responds to it. He’s had a little experience at this, this isn’t the first time. Because if you have a tight end that can do some of the fullback-type things, it’s a little tougher for the defense to know what personnel group you might be in.” The Dawgs have three other fullbacks to fall back on, Senior Fred Munzenmaier, Freshman Zander Ogletree, and Redshirt Freshman Dustin Royston. Munzenmaier has gotten plenty of reps this year when Chapas couldn’t perform because of the ankle. (source: Macon.Com)
Take care, Shaun, we will miss you! Good luck and Godspeed!
Shaun has been rated as the number four fullback in the upcoming NFL draft, so he should do just fine!
